Winter. It sucks. I’ve probably mentioned it before at some point. Something a little different from women in rope and me ranting about anything in particular, yet in keeping with the idea of “experimental”, I have been looking into DIY solar panel designs. I stumbled upon the idea of aluminum cans used in a heat box and found that there is quite a lot of information about it. Some seem to be more productive than others. Some people are running businesses where they’ll build you one of these things for a couple thousand bucks or so. Of course, it will pay for itself. Of course.

I looked around the shop thinking that I probably have enough random crap to actually build one and try it out for myself. My only downfall is that I hardly ever have aluminum cans around.

I also noticed that there were never any real clear images of these in design form. There are a few, but I designed this based on the available crap in the shop. Specifically, the clear front panel is a piece of sign face plastic that I have used as a floor in photography from time to time. It is a little scuffed up but it should work. Most of the rest of the crap is scrap wood from sign faces or crated sign packing.

I’ll keep you posted.
